Disney World In August

Most everyone is still in late summer with higher temps but Disney World is beginning to COOL down a bit (NOT weather wise-LOL). WOW!! Disney World in August means the beginning of FALL at the Disney Parks, new parties popping up, and even a brand new land will be opening this month! The weather is still a little “toasty”, but it is a truly magical month to visit!! Keep reading and find out why we are SOOOOO excited about Disney World in August!

Magical Happenings

Where do we begin? Let’s just start here with Star Wars Land! August 29, 2019 will be the opening date for Hollywood Studios’ newest land, STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE!

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party will begin on a very early August 16, 2019.

  • August – 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30
  • September – 2, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, 24, 27 and 29
  • October – 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, 27, 29 and 31

Also in August, begins EPCOT’s International Food and Wine Festival. This will be the longest running Food and Wine Festival EVER, giving you 87 days of delicious and fun treats! This festival will run August 29, 2019 through November 23, 2019.

Weather in August

August weather in Disney is HOT, HOT and HOT…and HUMID! Highs are usually around the mid-90’s and up! Lows are in the 80’s. Be prepared for the heat and take breaks with lots and lots of WATER! August also is the beginning of hurricane season, so be prepared! Check out HURRICANES AND DISNEY WORLD for all of the info you will need!

Crowds in August

Disney World in August goes from summer crowds to very low crowds and by the end of the month, BIG crowds. August is a pretty awesome time to visit (if you can stand the heat). Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge may be a crowd game changer for the month of August! Stay tuned and we will keep you posted!

Refurbishments and Closures

It’s never fun to plan a trip to Disney World and then find out your favorite attraction is undergoing refurbishments. While there is still a ton to do, it’s still nice to have a backup plan. From attractions to dining to the resorts, if there are any refurbishments going on, we will list it here.

MONORAIL

The Walt Disney World® Resort Monorail System is undergoing refurbishment and may be on modified service and/or routes. If Guests plan to use this form or transportation during their visit they should check to be sure of the best option available on their day of travel, as alternative transportation options will be available. Coronado Springs Resort: General Construction/Rooms Refurbishment
During this time, amenities including dining locations (such as the newly re-imagined Rix Sports Bar and Grill) and merchandise locations, pools, La Vida Health Club with the spa and salon, and recreation activities such as beach volleyball, Iguana Arcade, Movies Under the Stars and more, will remain available. Please note that noise will be heard while our Resort is undergoing refurbishments, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms prior to 9:00 am daily. Ongoing until further notice.

Grand Floridian Resort: Mizner’s Lounge, Beginning in April 2019, Mizner’s Lounge will be closed for refurbishment, with a reopening planned for fall 2019.

The Skyliner process will affect the following resorts: POP CENTURY, CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT, ART OF ANIMATION and BOARDWALK INN & VILLAS.Disney SkylinerWe have embarked on creating a new transportation system, Disney Skyliner, which will give Guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort while traveling via gondolas. During this time construction noise may be seen or heard throughout the resort, but noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9 am. Ongoing until further notice.
